First swim...

First swim after the Triathlon today...

you know because of the tri, there's this peace about swimming I've never had before... it's relaxing, even enjoyable!! I swam for an hour ish in the middle of the lake... Kim was teaching me to swim better for a bit... It's just nice :)

I Like Swimming :) ha! Wouldn't have said that a month ago...

Praise God for change of heart and showing me another thing that's beautiful in the relaxing trust it causes me to do. Reminds me of how I have to relax and trust him (or I'll drown ;)

Adventures...

So just got back from a first time experience...
John ditmer asks me if I want to go down to the lake house in winona lake to go rent a 'paddle board' Didn't know what that was, but i was like sure, I'm always up for something new and fun!

So this store is a new one in the village of winona lake, and it's all surf, swim, boarding things!
Pretty cool...
But coolest feature is the ability to rent things like kayaks and these boards to take out on the lake!
Check out this link "lake house"

anyway basically it's a surf board that is built to have you stand and use a paddle to paddle out onto the lake... It's like a gondola surf board... it was awesome! Good stuff...
kinda weird cause it felt like we were standing on the water!

anyway I recommend it to everyone who likes water, and new forms of fun on it!

and the tri is done...

So I have now done a Triathlon!

I did it in, 1:23:33
My Swim was: 18:20
My Bike was: 41:18
And the Run was: 20:47

I had a slower transition time between swim to bike, but I kinda expected that... my bike to run was only :30s
I beat my dad, he was 10mins behind me or so...
It was a good race!
I actually enjoyed it, the swim was pretty cool and I feel like I could improve my swim and run too!
I am amazed and thankful for the awesome body God's gifted me with, it was cool to see it preform this race!

Here it comes!

So today is wednesday... Saturday morning is the triathlon...
They totally tantalized me with something that probably wont happen today though, in their email to entrants...
In case the lake is closed, it will be a duathlon... Oh! why would they do that to me?! To know that i might just get to bike and run instead of swimming?
I think I need to just assume that we are doing the whole tri, but just for a second, I'll think about how awesome that would be :)
Okay the end... not another thought about that awesome thought :)

The cost...

"Luke 14: 25-33 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. "

Wait did Jesus just say hate family? And hate yourself? Well, no but yes it should make someone pause for a second or ten...
According to my ESV Study bible, the word "hating", in this context, is semitic of loving less...
This brings us to the point of the passage:
We must relinquish everything, a complete commitment, if we want to be a disciple...

I find this all interesting, hence the post, due to certain ideas people have:
the first being this, As Christians we need to hate ourselves and bash our self to be a true follower... this, from what I hear, is very Bob Jones, but go ahead and link to it for yourself...
The second is this, we are trained from day one in society to say, I have worth, I am important, I will succeed, I deserve, Love yourself, Me, me, me, mine, mine mine...

Honestly, both philosophies are wrong. It is true that most people don't have any trouble loving themselves at one time or another... and it's just as easy to hate oneself...

BUT, Jesus is saying look here people, if you aren't willing to put aside everything, willing to choose the electric chair (pick up your cross), then you aren't willing to be a disciple of him...
(see vs 33) So I guess the question for Christians become, are you willing? Are you acting on this? Does this scare you?
Well I think I need to pray and ponder some more, Cause I don't have the answers... Let me know what you think!

Triathlons, movies, and sunburns...

So Beach trip was amazing! I build one amazing castle and one half aztek pyramid (building in sand is always the highlight of a beach trip for me). Had a good run on the beach, took a small nap in a tree and jumped off of a dune a number of times!
All great fun!
Then the sunburn and sore muscles in the morning felt ridiculous! I didn't want to be in the sun at all! crazy...
However today I ventured out for a bike run workout. As a few may know I am in the last bit of triathlon training...
ask me how my training has gone?
Well not well... However my biking skills have improved quite a bit since I started, and though my swimming skills are slow, I can do the distance and more if I need too...
it should be interesting what happens during the race! If anyone is interested in seeing what race i'm doing I linked it in the last sentence, so check it out!
I'm excited after today's workout because I think the bike run transition should be great! Praise God for the body that can be trained and conditioned to do this!
In other news:
Also There is a chance I'll be able to see Transformers again today at work! I know the guys I'm working with would love to see it, so it's a 80% chance! Woot, so 80% chance here I come!!
Autobots Transform and roll out!

Today we go to...

THE BEACH!
Woot...
So other than some take off problems, people not following the plan and messing up the leaving time (hence the time to blog) I'm excited for beach!
I love sand!
Oh and what's awesome and sweet in the sand?
Sandcastles
And
running!
Speaking of running first, props to three rivers running club for being and awesome running store/club!
2nd I love my vibrams! These are the 5 toe shoes!
Barefoot running with protection one might say... :)
Though I will not be bringing them to the beach, they are quite amazing to run in...
Talking about them makes me what to bring them to the beach... they are just that awesome!
What fun!
Well hopefully we will leave soon, so write back another day!

Dark Of The Moon Soundtrack

I know I just posted about Transformers, but though this wont be all that I talk about it's currently on my mind...
So I love the soundtrack that Steve Jablonsky put together for all the Transformers movies
It's epic, fun, and right with the scene that's happening at the time it plays!

Unfortunate problem...
Walmart and K-mart both didn't have the score to Dark of the Moon!
They only had the pop/rock songs cd! oh no!
So then I go browsing the internet, just to see if I can even find a hard copy of it and Amazon doesn't even have it!!! how is this possible! Go ahead and check kinda frustrating...
Well Lucky for me itunes has them,
so I bought a blank Cd and bought some tunes and will now have a cd for my car, but come on people! I can't be the only one that likes soundtracks?!

Am I wrong? am I the only person who really likes the soundtracked score from movies?

Well first post should start big!

Well all among many things I'm a fan of transformers! As a kid I loved reading comics and watching transformers! When the movies came out I was excited to just see my imaginations of regular real life cars transforming come true! With the most recent one being super awesome I thought I'd like a review from Seibertron.com to continue what I think in someone else's speech! Though remember I think this is the best transformers film by Michael Bay to date...
